'til recently anyway.

They were drinking gin, wearing fur-lined leather, building big steel boats and generally living the ostentatious life before the Great Depression of 1929.

We have been getting fat, abusing credit off the rigged value of our McMansions, throwing the fate of a hundred thousand dollars at a time to the roll of the dice at a craps table and driving cars the size of Roman chariots.
